GOLDEN TRIANGLE

Duration: 6 days & 5 nights.

Delhi, Jaipur and Agra are three of the most fascinating cities in the whole of the Indian sub-continent; the very heart of the Moghal empire in the 16th and 17th centuries. This tour provides a gentle but fascinating introduction to Indian culture and civilization, and gives a glimpse of the beauty and mystery of the land.

Your itinerary

Monday (Day 1)

In the afternoon you will take a flight to Delhi from Goa. Upon arrival, transfer to your hotel in Delhi, for an overnight stay at the Marriott Hotel or similar.

Tuesday (Day 2)

Morning departure by coach to Jaipur. After checking-in at the hotel in Jaipur, take an afternoon tour of this fascinating city, the capital of the desert state of Rajasthan. See the City Palace, which is a delightful blend of Mughal and traditional Rajasthani architecture and was a former royal residence. It sprawls over 1/7 of the area in the walled city and now houses the City Palace Museum.

The tour continues to Jantar Mantar, a 17th century observatory, and a stop for photography at the "Palace of the Winds" whose ornamental facade is a landmark in Jaipur. The pink sandstone structure is encrusted with fine trellis work and balconies, niches and windows. Overnight stay at Rajputana Sheraton Hotel or similar.

Wednesday (Day 3)

This morning is the highlight of the visit to Jaipur, with a tour of the Amber Fort - a classic romantic Rajasthan fort palace. For a truly royal experience, an elephant ride through the snaking pathway up to the palace entrance is included. Overnight stay in Jaipur.

Thursday (Day 4)

Early morning departure by road to Agra, visiting Fatehpur Sikri ('deserted city') en route. Fatehpur Sikri is a perfectly preserved example of a Mughal city. The main entrance to the city is through the 175 feet Buland Darwaza, the highest gate in the world.

After check-in at your hotel, take an afternoon tour, visiting Agra Fort - made by Akbar during his reign and also used by his son Jehangir as the seat of power. You will then continue on to the local bazaar and the famous labour of love, the Taj Mahal, which has mesmerized visitors from around the world over the ages. Overnight stay at Mughal Sheraton Hotel or similar.

Friday (Day 5)

Early morning departure by road to Delhi, the capital of India. In the afternoon a sight seeing tour of Old Delhi, with its bustling roads and lanes full of history, interesting monuments, mosques and forts. Also pass the commanding Red Fort extending for over 2km and modelled on the Agra Fort by Shah Jahan. The tour also includes a visit to the colourful Chandni Chowk bazaar and the largest mosque in India; the final architectural extravagance of Shah Jahan. Overnight stay at Marriott Hotel or similar.
